I realised that this is a keypiece whilst reflecting on what the object enabled me to understand about a stage within the creative journey and research enquiry.
It marks a significant moment that not only answered a question but clearly identified another. It bridged the gap between the creative intension of the maker and the reception of the user.
This understanding about the keypiece was only possible because of its existence as part of a collection of objects and wouldn’t have been so clear to see in isolation.
